I gave my first performance on this trip tonight. Leah, David, Rachel, Abby, Melissa, Bill Reber, and I concertized in Doebeln about an hour away. We had a very small but appreciative audience and had some pretty strong performances. I was content with my performance. I'm just honored to be surrounded by such wonderful talent. Also, we might be featured in the Doebeln newspaper as American musical artists, which would be really neat to see.

Afterwards, we sat at a restaurant and talked for a long time. Bill, David, and I went on for a long time discussing orchestras, conductors, and American vs. European education for conductors. It was a very educational conversation. We also discussed a possible trip to Dresden to see the Staatskapelle orchestra perform the Brahms tragic overture along with the Brahms d minor piano concerto with Maurizio Pollini (!!!&%&%^&). I certainly hope that happens!

Tomorrow or sometime this week, I may try to find time to meet with Nick Kopta to work on translating my Wolf songs. It was a good day.
