Because German class was not held today, David, Susan, and I arranged to meet with Herr Glockner for an extra German session on prepositions, modal verbs, and various other things. I enjoyed it very much. He has been extremely generous with his time, for which I am very thankful.
As far as rehearsals have been going, people are feeling very overwhelmed about the Beggar's opera performance coming up. I feel bad, and I also feel a little less invested than I should be. I'm having a hard time connecting to/playing the orchestral reduction. Britten is tough in that area. It's too bad we're not doing all the Weil. That opera has some really neat music. I will try to tap into the world of Britten over the next few days.
In other news, I've been indulging in a lot of my solo repertoire and technical studies as well as practicing abunch of Wolf lieder here and there, which has been great. It feels like I'm on vacation here working on my own projects, although I feel a little less a part of this program since I'm not being devoured by opera. I suppose I'm making what I want of this trip.
Sometimes I get bored of writing in English. I wish I had the patience to journal in German!
